Lea Michele Promotes “New Year’s Eve” & Talks Last Name Change With Jay Leno. After discussing the romantic comedy that is schedule to hit theaters tomorrow night, December 9th. Leno asked the “Glee” star about her real last name due to him reading her bio. He asked how to pronounce it and told her that the last name with really nice.

Michele explained why she doesn’t use it, “Sarfati. That’s my real last name. I don’t use it a lot because I got Lea So-fatty, Lea So-farty at school. So when I was little and I went on my first audition they were like, ‘And may we have your name,’ and I was like Lea Michele. And I’ve been Lea Michele ever since.”

Leno then asked, “Now what, is that Italian. Sarfati.” Michele answered, “It’s Sephardic, which is Spanish/Jew. We’re from Spain, got kicked out. Went there, went there.”

Leno also having to make jokes asked, “Now why did you get kicked out. Was the skirt too short?” To which Michele laughed about it. She admits that she is part Italian since her mother is Italian. She also boosted about her parents being together since they were 14 years old.

Michele expressed that she is excited to be in a film titled “New Year’s Eve” because it is actually her favorite holiday. Her and her mother are a bit superstitious on this holiday and do everything they can to bring them good luck for the new year. Michele went on to stated that if they wanted love for the new year they would wear red and if they wanted a fun year they would wear wigs or something else the resembles fun.

It seems that Michele and Ashton Kutcher are a little bit too friendly during the premiere of “New Year’s Eve.” Kutcher doesn’t seem to be mourning over his divorce proceedings with future ex-wife Demi Moore.
