Classy Vs. Trashy Celebrity Women

When we think of celebrity women there are simply so many to choose from and think of. You have everything from women of true power and good morals, to women of time limited fame and low standards. You have women that use their celebrity status to help others and encourage women to push forward and succeed as well as women that use their celebrity status for themselves that will do anything to keep the spot light on themselves even if it is negative.

This is when we need to stop to really think what is better. We have so many young girls and women putting so much attention on the wrong celebrities. They are choosing the wrong types of role models. People sit around and watch all these so called ‘Reality’ shows that show women acting horribly. A perfect example would be the Reality TV Show Basketball Wives. Basketball Wives first of all, is not a show based on true reality; this show actually based around entertainment. The show does nothing but show grown women and mothers acting like fools and high school girls gossiping, throwing orange juice and even getting involved in physical violence.

One of the sad things is that Tammi Roman for example, on the show Basketball Wives supposedly does spend her time trying to reach out and help others. ┬áThere’s been very brief mentions of her working with non profit organizations such as Save The World. But why is it that all you hear is two seconds of positivity and a whole hour about crap? Why not use the show to focus on women doing positive things? Instead, they make it seem as though all these women do all day is drink, shop and engage in drama and fights whether verbal or physical.

Lets look at Oprah Winfrey for a moment. This women has used her success time and time again to help, encourage and uplift women and people around the world. Due to her focus on positivity and drive to help and encourage others she has become one of the richest women in the world. She was in-fact ranked the richest African American woman of the 20th century.

Oprah has worked with and founded several charity and non profit organizations to raise awareness and help the less fortunate. These organizations include The Oprah Winfrey Foundation, The Oprah Winfrey Operating Foundation, The Angel Network whose goal is to “inspire people and make a difference in the lives of others” and is known for giving out grants and awards to individuals and organizations, plus so many more. She has actually donated millions of dollars to these and other non profit organizations and charities.

With this being said isn’t it obvious that positive hard working women have far much more success. Lets be real here, Oprah Winfrey has been around for since 1984 and will be talked about for a lifetime. She has left her mark and her name will go down in history. These “Reality Show” women on the other hand will be forgotten probably within a year or two of their shows being cancelled. So who is the real role model? I’m sure you all can figure that answer for yourselves.

Other organizations or foundations that Oprah Winfrey has worked with are:
*Mississippi Animal Rescue League (rescues animals)
*Stuart Weitzman Charity (organization benefiting ovarian cancer awareness and research)
*Clinton Foundation (focuses on treating HIV and AIDS and fighting climate change)
*Project Cuddle (rescues hundreds of babies from abandonment and abuse every year)
*Free The Children (organization dedicated to building schools for children in developing countries)
